The Atelier
Atelier Delphinus is an independent atelier devoted to sculpture and the creation of objects that unite art, craftsmanship and enduring design. Every piece begins as an original sculpture, conceived not simply to be worn, but to possess its own character, balance and presence.
The story of Atelier Delphinus began in 1984, while its founder was studying at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. Trained as a sculptor, painter and architect, with studies at MassArt and the Boston Architectural Center, he approached jewellery from the beginning as another form of sculpture — an object conceived in three dimensions, shaped by material, proportion and the hand.
The first pieces were made in bronze, followed by further works in bronze and silver. In the years that followed, design gradually became production: models were sculpted, moulds made, metals cast and pieces finished by hand. By the late 1980s, the atelier had established its own workshop in Madrid, beginning a practice that would continue for decades.
